We’re looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant excited to join a growing community bank. The Senior Accountant should have a solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and strong financial analysis skills. Responsibilities include but are not limited to preparing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, preparing financial and regulatory reports, and supporting other accounting department functions as needed. The perfect candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and demonstrates versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field required.
  • Minimum of three years of related experience. Banking experience is a plus.
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Ability to extract meaningful information from data and present results to management.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Dedication to excellence and high standards.
  • Acute attention to detail.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills including experience with vlookups and pivot tables. Able to become proficient in other software applications as needed.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.

Specific Job Functions:

  • Analyzes and reconciles balance sheet accounts; reviews for accurate and appropriate level of activities and resolves any issues.
  • Reviews financial data for accuracy; identifies problems and supports day-to-day operations.
  • Maintains and reconciles fixed assets schedules.
  • Reconciles investment and correspondent bank accounts; prepares journal entries to record daily activity.
  • Leads the month-end close process, ensuring the timely and accurate posting of closing journal entries.
  • Assists in the preparation of all internal and external financial and regulatory reports.
  • Helps with identifying, testing, and maintaining internal controls over financial reporting that meet FDICIA requirements.
  • Supports policy development and offers advice regarding accounting and internal control issues.
  • Compiles and maintains detailed instructions, procedures, and policies for the completion of various accounting tasks and reports.
  • Serves as backup for the accounts payable function and the processing of incoming and outgoing wire transfers.
  • Assists with internal and external audits and bank examinations.
  • Attends training courses and seminars related to the job as needed.
  • Assists with related special projects as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
