Cache’s Corner: My Favorite Winter Activities

Things to do this Winter in New England

Bow-WOW, what a wonderful time Winter can be! Cache here with some of my favorite winter activities for those looking for some fun things to do this Winter in New England.

Winter is filled with some of my favorite pastimes, rolling in the snow, eating the snow, turning the snow yel…… Okay I promise the list offers more than just snow. I’m just excited to share it all with my Pals at Partners Bank so they can start to enjoy the many winter activities in New England.

Winter Walking & Hiking Trails

Did someone say walk? I’ll get my leash! Winter walks & hikes are the best ways to start the day. Southern Maine and New Hampshire are full of walking trails and mountain paths for the perfect morning adventure.

Mount Agamenticus

My humans love taking me on hikes up Southern Maine’s “First Mountain”. There’s even a book based on this trail for those of us still in our puppy years!

Highland Farm Preserve

This winding trail through southern Maine is perfect for all ages. Walk, run, and even cross country ski in Maine on the Highland Farm Preserve.

Downtown Portsmouth

An unconventional walk, this dog-friendly New Hampshire city is a fun day out for the whole family. I’m partial to the free treats and water bowls they leave out along the way!

Who’s Hungry? Serving Up A Unique Outdoor Dining Experience in Maine

After a walk in the park I’m ready to woof down something to eat! Luckily southern Maine is home to one of my favorite spots to grab a bite, listen to music, and run around with my pals.

Funky Bow Brewery

It takes one look around this famed funky brewery to know why it’s made my list of favorite winter activities. Funky Bow Brewery is best known as one of the top dog-friendly breweries in Maine. Me and my canine pals are always ready to come unleashed at the Funky Bow. My humans love a night out with an assortment of craft-brewed beer in southern Maine, paired with artisan wood-fired pizza, and live music. With outdoor space for the whole family, games, music, and now a disc golf course, this brewery in southern Maine is sure to make your list of favorite winter activities.

And my TOP FAVORITE thing to do in the winter

Cozying Up By The Fire

After a long day’s walk with my humans, there’s nothing they like more than cozying up by the fire with a warm cup of hot cocoa. Partners Bank even loaned me their personal homemade hot cocoa recipe. My humans tell me it’s great – don’t worry I know I can’t have chocolate!

Partners Bank Hot Cocoa Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup hot water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 8 cups milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 2 teaspoon almond vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Combine cocoa powder, sugar, salt and water, and wisk over medium heat
  2. Bring ingredients to a simmer and stir until all is mixed
  3. Reduce the heat and add milk, do not boil
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the almond or vanilla extract
  5. Pour into Mugs and top with whipped cream or marshmallows!

Thanks for following along with my favorite winter activities in New England. I’m so excited to hear about your favorite winter activities and add to my list. Swing by your local Partners Bank after you enjoy one or all of these activities, and be sure to tell them all about it. My Partners pals said they’d relay the message.

Pawsitively Yours,
