SANFORD, Maine—Partners Bank is proud to announce that LearningWorks has been awarded the Bank’s latest $500 gift from its monthly Employee Donation Program (EDP). This organization was designated as February’s recipient by Makayla Thompson, who was randomly selected as the 47th employee to participate in the program.
From its Portland location, LearningWorks provides free, community-based education programs for children, adults and families throughout Southern Maine. These innovative programs—ranging from afterschool/summer programs for young kids performing at below-grade proficiency to an English language and literacy program for immigrants and refugees—provide resources and support to foster each student’s academic and social success.
Ultimately, LearningWorks is committed to helping individuals of all ages realize their potential as valuable contributors to society on both the micro and macro levels.
The head teller at the Bank’s Waterboro branch with a keen interest in the Waterboro school system, Thompson chose LearningWorks after discovering that the organization partners with the town’s schools to enhance the quality of teaching and education.
“The importance of education for shaping people’s lives in productive ways can never be overstated,” says Partners Bank President & CEO Blaine Boudreau. “I congratulate Makayla for making such a commendable selection by designating LearningWorks as our February EDP recipient.”
