We’re back at it again, sharing in some Patriots spirit and spreading goodwill in the community with the “SIS Touchdowns for Good” initiative. After kicking off in September, we’ve already donated $800 to two different nonprofit organizations in the New Hampshire seacoast region.

New England’s two back-up quarterbacks combined to throw four touchdown passes in September, earning $200 for Seacoast Pathways; upon Tom Brady’s return to the gridiron, his 12 scoring tosses accounted for the $600 donation made to Veterans Martial Arts Training (V-MAT) in October.

Founded in 2013, Seacoast Pathways was established with the objective of easing the feeling of isolation that adults with mental illnesses often endure. This isolation can cause education to suffer, thus fostering poor social skills and a high unemployment rate. The structured, work-based program helps members to complete training and education and secure housing, all while providing a community where friendships and relationships can develop.

“We’re so glad we are able to make this contribution to Seacoast Pathways,” said SIS Bank President & CEO Mark T. Mickeriz. “Such a program is critical to the enrichment of the community it serves.”

V-MAT is a program designed to help transition soldiers from the thought processes of battle to those of daily life. Students learn the proven benefits this form of training has on the human mind, psyche and behavior through the physical practice of traditional martial arts. The program flourishes because martial arts requires the same camaraderie, brotherhood/sisterhood and discipline to which veterans are accustomed – resulting in physical, mental and spiritual balance.

“SIS is proud to support V-MAT and its important mission,” Mickeriz said. “We are thankful not only for having such a crucial program in our neighborhood, but also for the men and women V-MAT serves.”
