Chocolate and S’mores – Partners Bank Supports the Chocolate Benefit Spectacular, Helping the Sanford Backpack Program
If there is anything that most of the population can agree on, it’s that chocolate is amazing!
The Sanford Backpack Program held their 9th Annual Chocolate Benefit Spectacular on Saturday, April 26th, and Partners Bank employees contributed by showcasing a table at the event. The fundraising event had chocolate treats from chocolatiers, music, a cash bar, amazing community raffles, friends, and fun – all while helping to feed Sanford students.
Partners Bank competed for People’s Choice Award, Best Presentation, Best Overall Tasting Chocolate, and Most Creative Use of Chocolate.
S’more Prep
On Thursday afternoon, the following Partners Bank employees happily met at the YMCA Trafton Senior Center to assemble the s’mores, which consisted of a bite-sized graham cracker pocket, filled with Marshmallow Fluff, covered with melted chocolate, and topped with three torched marshmallows.

Crystal Callahan harnessed her creativity by designing and decorating the table used at the event.
A S’more-tacular Night
Although Partners Bank didn’t walk away with a win, the attendees obviously loved the s’mores because the table was wiped clean by the end of the night!
It was a fun evening with live entertainment and a cash bar, provided by Above and Beyond Catering (who did not charge the event for their services or for the charcuterie boards for the sponsor tables). Donated items were raffled and all proceeds go to the Sanford Backpack Program.
About the Sanford Backpack Program
The Sanford Backpack Program was created by Strategies for a Stronger Sanford to assist Maine students who suffer from food insecurity. Many of Sanford’s students get their meals for free or reduced prices to feed them throughout the school week. For some children, they will not eat their next nutritionally dense meal until they return to school on Monday. The Sanford Backpack Program sends children home for the weekend with a backpack full of nutritious and easy-to-prepare food to ensure they can maintain a balanced diet and return to school on Monday ready to focus on learning.
