Sanford, Maine – On Wednesday, February 21st, Partners Bank had the pleasure of presenting a $10,000 check to Make-A-Wish Maine during the live Share the Power of a Wish Telethon at the CBS13/FOX23 station.

Make-A-Wish is a renowned national organization with the power to create positive memories for children with critical illnesses when they need it most. Creating joy and hope for these children is believed to give them more strength and confidence in their fight against their illness.

While the whole organization has granted over 550,000 wishes, Make-A-Wish Maine has granted more than 1,800 wishes to children battling critical illnesses in Maine. These types of wishes are limitless as the imaginations of children are often more creative than adults can comprehend. Wishes vary from wishing to be a police officer to wishing to be a witch or wizard at Hogwarts, the famous fictional school in the Harry Potter books.

Furthering the support of this great cause, eight Partners Bank employees cheerfully volunteered to answer phone calls during the live telethon. Those amazing volunteers were Cathy Buffum, Crystal Callahan, Karyn Morin, Deborah Mullen, Stacie Parker, Chelsea Smith, Kim Stewart, and Kim Weaver. Driven by their passion for the cause, these ladies captured donations over the phone from 5-7 p.m.

“I volunteered because I feel so blessed and wanted to help support other families,” Callahan, Receptionist at the Partners Bank main office in Sanford, shared. “Volunteering for Make-A-Wish telethon had an amazing impact on me. It truly moved my heart that I am making beautiful wishes come true for these amazing children by taking time out of my day to participate answering phones and receiving donations.”

The Share the Power of a Wish Telethon accepted donations from 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. with the goal to raise $100,000. At the end of the campaign, they far exceeded their goal and raised $131,832. Make-A-Wish Maine grants a wish about every five days, and Partners Bank is pleased that these funds will be impactful in granting more wishes and spreading joy to these strong children.
