Partners Bank Named 2022 Best Places to Work in Maine

Sanford, Maine—Partners Bank has been named one of the 2022 Best Places to Work in Maine in the statewide survey and awards program designed to identify, recognize, and honor the best places of employment in Maine. The program attributes ranking companies as benefitting the state’s economy, its workforce, and its businesses.

This award comes after the completion of a two-part process which evaluated each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, and demographics (worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation) and then surveyed company employees to measure the employee experience (worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation). The combined scores determined the top companies and the final rankings, which were anounced yesterday, October 17, in the day’s edition of Mainebiz.

Partners Bank was founded as Sanford Institute for Savings in 1933 and currently employs 151 individuals in 11 locations throughout southern Maine and New Hampshire. The bank credits its employees—past and present—for the bank’s nearly 90 years of success. “At Partners Bank, we recognize the value of our employees and want to provide them with more than a paycheck—we want to give our employees support and opportunities for growth, and we want them to be happy,” says Blaine Boudreau, Partners Bank President and CEO. These sentiments speak to an intention that has been embedded within the company’s official Mission Statement, which states, in part, the intent to “enhance the quality of life of our employees and the communities we serve.”

“Because of our appreciation for our employees and our long-term history, we are fortunate to have many individuals that have been with us for many years,” Boudreau adds, he, a long-time employee himself, that joined the bank in 2003 as Senior Vice President of Commercial Lending.  “As the labor market has shifted over the past two years, we find ourselves now in a season of change, as most businesses are. It can be challenging to maintain the balance of ensuring that legacy employees remain comfortable and content as we welcome new employees and continue to grow, but our team has been thoughtful about our every move and every hire. To see the effectiveness of our efforts reflected in the results of this project, during this time, is particularly meaningful.”

In addition to encouragement to find a good life/work balance, Partners Bank offers employees a competitive salary; comprehensive medical, dental, and life insurance benefits; a generous 401(k) plan; wellness programs; educational programs; and paid time off (including the employee’s birthday!).

The Best Places to Work in Maine awards program was created in 2006 and is a project of the Society for Human Resource Management – Maine State Council (MESHRM) and Best Companies Group. Endorsing partners of the program include: Mainebiz, the Maine State Chamber of Commerce, and Maine HR Convention.

The criteria required for a company to be considered for participation were the following:

  • Have at least 15 employees working in Maine;
  • Be a for-profit or not-for-profit business or government entity;
  • Be a publicly or privately held business;
  • Have a facility in the state of Maine; and
  • Must be in business a minimum of 1 year.

Partners Bank thanks our employees not only for their exceptional work and for participating in the surveying portion of this project, but also for being who they are and for making our company what it is. Partners Bank also thanks the MESHRM and Best Companies Group for their creation and execution of this informative project.
