Partners Bank Sponsors Make-A-Wish Maine’s “Power of a Wish” Telethon as They Celebrate 30 Years of Wish Giving

Sanford, Maine—Partners Bank announces an upcoming partnership with Make-A-Wish Maine in the organization’s “Power of a Wish Telethon,” a celebratory event commemorating the organization’s 30 years of granting wishes to Maine children with critical illnesses. The telethon will take place on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, from 4:30AM to 9:00PM and will air on Southern Maine’s CBS13 and FOX23. Partners Bank will sponsor the morning segment of the program as the event’s Morning Match Partner and bank employees will be staffing the phones to facilitate donations from callers.

“After being presented with an opportunity to support this event, I knew immediately that I wanted to find a way to make it happen,” recalls Karyn Scharf Morin, Partners Bank SVP, Chief Deposit Officer. “It’s a great organization that makes a real difference in kids’ lives—we’re looking forward to playing a part in the telethon and helping Make-A-Wish Maine make even more wishes come true.”

Since a small group of volunteers first gathered in 1992 to form the Maine chapter of the successful national organization, Make-A-Wish, over 1,750 wishes have been granted to Maine children; in the last year alone, wishes were granted to 75 Maine children and their families. The imact of granting a wish has proven to be significant, as evidenced in the organization’s 2022 Wish Impact Study in which it was shown that a wish can help improve a child’s quality of life, giving them a better chance of recovering. “A wish helps care for the whole child—mind, body, and spirit,” the organization says.

Partners Bank looks forward to helping Make-A-Wish Maine sustainably grant wishes—making every wish come true and giving children with critical illnesses experiences of hope and joy when they need it most. Partners Bank urges everyone to tune into the telethon on February 22 and to make a donation to this special cause if they are able.
