Partners Bank Donates $25,000 to The Kita Center, the Expansion of Camp Kita

From left to right: Blaine Boudreau (President & CEO of Partners Bank), Deb Mullen (Marketing Director of Partners Bank), Sydney Mosher (Co-Founder of Kita), and Kyla Simpson (Market Manager of Partners Bank Springvale Office) present a $25,000 donation to The Kita Center, a place for healing, honoring, and connection for children and families grieving a loved one’s suicide.

Sanford, ME – What do Partners Bank and The Kita Center have in common? They listen to the community. Partners Bank, The Bank That Listens®, is proud to sponsor the expansion of Camp Kita to The Kita Center by donating $25,000.

The Kita organization was created in 2013 by the Mosher siblings after losing their father to suicide. Together, they transformed their grief into creativity and service, and Camp Kita was born. Camp Kita is a free summer camp program for children between the ages of 8-17 who are grieving a loved one’s suicide. The Camp provides supportive programs such as therapeutic group discussion, activities, and skill-building specifically for suicide loss survivors. Dedicated mentors and trained crisis professionals are on-site 24/7 and ready to help at a moment’s notice. Outside of the healing programs, campers spend their time participating in active and restorative traditional camp activities such as archery, fishing, photography, and more.

This tuition-free camp has been held at different locations each year as they have rented various facilities throughout Maine. However, the organization is growing and evolving to provide more resources, allowing them to help a bigger population. In 2021, the Kita organization began the expansion of Camp Kita into The Kita Center, a permanent 28.5-acre property situated on Loon Pond in Acton, Maine. “Kita Commons,” a community mental health center and dining hall, medical cabin, nature education building, and expanded programs for young adults and families are just a few of the abundant necessities that The Kita Center will provide. But more importantly, they will offer a place for healing, honoring, and connection.

As one can expect, the construction of a property of this magnitude is not quick and simple. The $25,000 donation from Partners Bank will greatly propel The Kita Center to their campaign goal of $3.4 million for Phase I of the project.

“We are deeply grateful to Partners Bank for their generous donation of $25,000 towards our ‘Home for Healing’ at The Kita Center. Their support not only demonstrates their commitment to our cause but also reaffirms their dedication to serving the community they are an integral part of,” Co-Founder Sydney Mosher expressed. “Together, we witness the power of community collaboration in creating spaces where healing, connection, and hope flourish.”

Partners Bank, as the name suggests, has always been committed to partnering with the community and being involved in the growth of Southern Maine and New Hampshire.
