Sanford, ME – Partners Bank employees ended 2024 and are beginning the new year with generosity by pledging $21,247 to United Way in 2025. United Way brings together the people, ideas, and resources to respond to emerging needs and tackle the persistent issues preventing individuals and families from achieving economic stability and leading healthy lives. Partners Bank further proves their belief in United Way’s cause by offering a corporate match.
The Bank is generously matching the employees’ donations, which brings the total amount to $42,494. This pledge is $890 more than what was donated in 2024. Because Partners Bank serves Maine and New Hampshire, the funds will be distributed to United Way of Southern Maine and Granite United Way’s Greater Seacoast Region.
For the past 38 years, Partners Bank has been part of the United Way movement through employee donations and volunteering. Notable campaigns have been the Partners Bank Heat Week Telethon in 2022 and 2023, which benefited Keep ME Warm, an emergency heating assistance program by United Way of Southern Maine. Bank employees have also consistently volunteered on United Way’s Day of Caring.
At the Partners Bank 2025 United Way Community Campaign kick-off on November 18th, employees learned how their donations are leaving a positive impact on those who are struggling in the community. A dollar per week or $52 annually can provide one night of emergency shelter for a survivor of domestic violence or three hours of peer support for a veteran. Five dollars per week or $260 annually can provide four hours of bereavement support for a child or a school year of nutritious food for a family at risk of hunger.
If the fight to tackle life’s toughest challenges was a war, United Way would be the General in the Maine and New Hampshire army. Local non-profit organizations look toward the global organization for support and receive assistance from them. Caring Unlimited, Portland Housing Authority, and The Center for Grieving Children are just a few of United Way of Southern Maine’s partners. K-Ready Kids, Home for All Coalition, and Greater Seacoast Region Community Baby Shower lean on Granite United Way’s Greater Seacoast Region.
United Way helps those who are considered ALICE (asset limited, income constrained, employed) with food and housing, childcare, and mental health challenges and substance abuse. According to United Way of Southern Maine’s Community Report, ALICE represents households who live paycheck to paycheck and have little to no opportunity to save for emergencies or for future investments like education, home ownership, or retirement. They struggle with the basic needs, which are also the most expensive items their household budget: food, housing, and childcare. With the stress of it all, mental health declines and substance abuse become consequences and causes of financial instability.
Partners Bank is honored to partner with United Way in the fight to tackle these challenges by donating $42,494 and continuing to be The Bank That Listens.
